You have probably seen his photo – a curious, bright-eyed, orange and white cat peering upside down into the camera. Jellybean was notorious in the cattery. His bold personality, paired with his playful, lovable nature made him stand out. He loved being the center of attention, which is why he was often one of the most photographed cats. Jellybean needed to find a forever home where he could be doted and loved like the king he believed himself to be.
In January 2021, Jared Redick and his husband, Van, came to visit the cats at Living Free. When Jared was a young child, he had a beloved cat. When that cat passed away, he did not feel ready to bring another cat into his life for a long time. It was going to take a very special cat to open up Jared’s heart.
Upon entering the cattery, Jared and Van were immediately greeted by Jellybean and one other cat. Jellybean took over, chasing the other cat away, proceeding to sit on Jared’s lap. From then on it was love at first sight. Jellybean went home with Jared and Van on January 10, 2021. And, although Van was not as eager to bring a cat into their lives, Jellybean won him over within 24 hours.
Jared shares, “Jellybean enjoys his cat towers and will jump on the cat towers on command. He loves to play in the mornings with toys and becomes very annoyed if you don’t want to play with him. I work from home and Jellybean is a very present companion at my work-from-home desk. I trained him to lay in a tray on my desk by putting one of my shirts in the tray so that he could be close to me. He is so well behaved. Jellybean responds to the word “No” and won’t use his claws when he is sitting on my shoulder or lap.”
We are very in love with Jellybean. He enjoys full dominance over the house and us. He is a wonderful cat that is as devoted to us as we are to him.”
Jared, we could not be happier that Jellybean found a very loving home with you and Van. We wish you many years of love and companionship together.
