In July of 2020, an adorable, yet very shy cat arrived at Living Free Animal Sanctuary. She was timid and unsure of herself, which quickly earned her the name Shy. With a lot of love and nurturing from our Cattery team, Shy came out of her shell and began to shine.
Landon and Katie Aaker had been thinking for a long time about bringing home a cat. When Katie was about twelve years-old, her family adopted two cats from Living Free. Husband, Landon, loves cats and they recently decided to make the trip from Temecula to Living Free with the intent of adopting a cat.
Katie shared, “When we arrived at Living Free and visited the Cattery, we loved the opportunity to visit with so many cats. Shy, who was not so shy anymore, came over to Landon and got right up on his lap. We decided right then that Shy was the cat for us.”
“We took her home on Sunday, February 28, 2021. We are enjoying her so much. We had about twenty names picked out and finally decided on Mia. She is so great, so fun to be around. Mia was a little nervous at first, but it wasn’t too long before she was snuggling on Landon’s lap purring and purring. Haley, the Cattery Supervisor, gave her so many toys to take home. Mia’s favorite toy is the laser pointer. Mia gets so excited when she sees the laser that she does this funny butt wiggle and then she pounces on the light. She loves laying on Landon’s lap and tries to snuggle with both of us at the same time when we are all sitting on the couch.”
Katie added, “We are so thankful for the work that Living Free does. Living Free is the best of the best.”
Both Landon and Katie work for the Temecula School District, Katie teaches English and Landon, a former Math teacher, works with students and teachers in Information Technology. Thank you for adopting Mia. It is obvious that Mia has found the best home ever.
